Bayer and Onyx have multiple clinical trials underway for individuals with lung cancer. For a more comprehensive list of Nexavar® (sorafenib) clinical trials, please visit clinicaltrials.gov or call 1-866-639-2827.
Phase 3 Study of Nexavar in Combination with the Agents Gemcitabine and Cisplatin
Enrollment completed
Study Design: Randomized, double-blind placebo-controlled trial
Patients: Stage IIIb-IV non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) patients who have not received prior systemic anticancer treatment
Purpose: To determine the effectiveness of Nexavar plus the chemotherapeutic agents gemcitabine and cisplatin when compared to the chemotherapeutic agents alone by assessing the difference in overall survival and disease progression, as well as to evaluate other measures of efficacy and safety
Location: Select locations outside of the United States
Phase 3 Study of Single Agent Nexavar
Currently enrolling
Study Design: Randomized, double-blind placebo-controlled trial
Patients: Patients with advanced relapsed or refractory predominantly non-squamous non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) after two or three previous treatment regimens
Purpose: To determine the effectiveness of Nexavar plus best supportive care when compared to best supportive care alone by assessing the difference in overall survival (OS), as well as to evaluate other measures of efficacy and safety
Location: Multiple centers throughout North America, South America, Europe and the Asia-Pacific region
Phase 2 Study of Nexavar in Combination with the Agent Pemetrexed Disodium (Alimta) *
Study Design: Randomized, placebo-controlled study
Patients: Stage IIIb-IV non-small cell, non-squamous lung cancer (NSCLC) patients, who have progressed after one prior chemotherapy regimen
Purpose: To determine the effectiveness of Nexavar plus Alimta when compared to Alimta alone by assessing the difference in overall survival and disease progression, as well as to evaluate other measures of efficacy and safety
Location: United States
Phase 2 Study of Nexavar in Combination with the Agents Pemetrexed and Carboplatin *
Study Design: Randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial
Patients: Stage IIIb-IV non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) patients of all histologies who have had no prior systemic chemotherapy
Purpose: To determine the effectiveness of Nexavar plus pemetrexed and carboplatin when compared to pemetrexed and carboplatin alone by assessing the difference in disease progression and overall survival, as well as to evaluate other measures of efficacy and safety
Location: Germany
Phase 2 Study of Nexavar in Combination with Erlotinib vs. Erlotinib Alone in Previously Treated Advanced Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer
Study Design: Treatment, randomized, double-blind, parallel-assignment, safety/efficacy study
Patients: Unresectable stage IIIB or stage IV N patients with confirmed locally advanced or metastatic NSCLS who have had 1-2 prior chemotherapy regimens
Purpose: To investigate the use of newer targeted agents in patients with Stage IIIB or stage IV NSCLS
Location: United States
* Not a company-sponsored trial.
